Outdoor pursuits
We are able to offer instruction and guiding for climbing and abseiling on sea cliffs on the Dorset coast as well as coasteering for groups. We can also provide instruction for all kinds of exciting outdoor pursuits as well as team building programmes based at our Mountain Lodge in Capel Curig, North Wales.
Rock climbing & abseiling
Based from either Dorset on the sea cliffs or in the heart of Snowdonia we can provide instruction for groups in rock climbing and abseiling.
We can run a half or full day session of climbing and abseiling on the cliffs at Swanage, Dorset, which can be combined with coasteering. The sea cliffs are an ideal location to introduce individuals to rope work and climbing techniques. We provide instruction and all the necessary equipment. The cliffs are about one and half hours drive from our centre in the New Forest and groups are responsible for arranging their own transport.
Coasteering
Coasteering is an exciting outdoor pursuit that involves making your way along the foot of sea cliffs using a mix of climbing, scrambling, swimming or abseling. Journeying at or just above sea level, the beautiful local scenery can be seen from a unique vantage point.
Depending on your needs, The New Forest Outdoor Centre can provide an hugely exhilarating day out coasteering on the Dorset sea cliffs for a group of delegates. All the 'action' is supervised by qualified and experienced instructors and full safety equipment is provided. For those who prefer a less "wet n'wild" experience we also offer climbing and abseiling sessions on the Dorset coast. The location is about an hour and a half drive from our centre and we do not provide transport.
On the water
We have a fleet of both Canadian canoes and kayaks, as well as other craft, that we can bring to your venue if there is access to suitable water. After introducing the delegates to the basic paddling skills required to manoeuvre the craft, we can arrange an expedition, a series of races or aqualogical challenges or even on-the-water orienteering and treasure hunts.
We can also organise raft-building exercises. We will provide all of the materials - barrels, vast quantities of lashing and pioneering poles. A short session on rope work and lashing techniques can be included. The delegates will then work in teams against the clock to devise a plan, develop their strategy and build their craft. At the end on the construction period the teams will put their rafts on the water and go head-to-head in a raft race over a set distance.
