Organisational development - sense-making
In changing times the complexity of changing relationships, roles, structures and interpersonal interactions can leave individuals and teams wrong footed and off balance.
Assumptions, half truths, unspoken concerns and optimistic denial can leave people mentally in different places and unsure of how best to proceed.
The dynamics of organisations are complicated. Each employee has their own values, and beliefs which influence the way they believe the organisation should be. Each person has their own history with the organisation and their own needs which they are hoping will be met from the organisation. Teams similarly have patterns of values and beliefs, history and needs. On top of this each person as a unique perspective on how they actually think the organisation is.
Creating opportunities to make personal sense of what is happening beneath the surface within teams enables individuals to positively contribute to changing and developing the organisation of which they are part. The Team at the New Forest Outdoor Centre provide reflective space, and facilitation to support teams to come together and regain a shared sense of what they are going to do, how they are going to do it and how they are going to be together.
