Equipped with climbing harnesses and safety ropes, the members of the team are required to work together to ascend a giant tree. Each team member must first climb up the tree trunk and then attempt to reach the top of the canopy, using the solid tree branches. The team will be supervised by a qualified instructor at all times and the principle emphasis will be on looking out for each other.

However, there is also the challenge to reach the bell at the top of the tree and the sound of ringing frequently disturbs the peace of the forest when teams choose to include this unusual activity in their programme or activity session. The view of the surrounding forest from the top of the tree is superb.

It is an ideal activity to include in a team development or leadership development programme or a fun team building day. The safety of the climbers is paramount and those who leave the safety of the ground are belayed at all times. For less adventurous team members there are important roles on the ground, handling the safety ropes and of course, offering encouragement to the climbers.

Delegates must work as team to get to the summit of the giant tree climb

The session is supervised by fully-qualified instructors at all times. All the participants in the group are fitted with full climbing equipment and are always attached to a safety rope whilst off the ground. Giant tree climbing is suitable for adults and children over the age of 8.

We also offer climbing and abseiling instruction off site on the Dorset sea cliffs or further afield as required. We have the use of a Mountain Lodge in North Wales, where we can run bespoke climbing courses on real rock.
