The New Forest Outdoor Centre is the perfect venue for organising orienteering courses and treasure hunts.
Orienteering exercises both the mind and the body, with the aim being to navigate in sequence between control points marked on a map and decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time. Courses can be set up over a range of distances and difficulty levels according to the ability of the group and the needs of the programme. We are also able to offer fun treasure hunt events, which can incorporate other activities such as the Flintstone Car Build, as well as plan and run large-scale orienteering events across the forest. We can offer orienteering and organise treasure hunts off site either locally in the surrounding New Forest or further afield in the grounds of hotels and country parks as required. Orienteering and treasure hunt team building challenges can be combined with the mountain biking activity.
Extending the activity
Whilst the activity is physical in nature, the routes vary in difficulty and the course can be designed to be appropriate for the fitness level and ability of the group. For teams who would like to stretch themselves further we can organise night navigation exercises and hikes. This is a popular choice for groups staying on site overnight as we can arrange the final destination to be a local restaurant for supper or the pub for a well earned drink!
Groups are equipped with maps, compass and receive training and a full safety briefing before setting out on the course. Instructors are on hand to assist groups during the activity. Our orienteering and treasure hunts are suitable for adults and we have shorter courses for young people.
