Delegates attending programmes at the New Forest Outdoor Centre can complete their stay by spending the night in one of our bespoke Shepherd's huts set deep in the ancient forest.
This overnight experience should be considered as integral to the programme and not compared with an overnight in a local hotel. Our spic and span Shepherd's huts are certainly more comfort than camping but they do not allure to be five star. What we offer is the chance for delegates to remain on site together in a special setting. There is exclusive use of the venue and the opportunity to socialise and review the day's events.
Our unique environment allows delegates to relax and unwind from the day's programmes or gel together as a team at the start of a programme without the intrusion from so many of today's distractions! Our Shepherd's huts are also availabe to hire by guests attending a wedding or function on site and the bridal 'honeymoon' hut is included as standard for the bride and groom in all our wedding packages.
Each rustic shepherd's hut sleeps up to four delegates. Sheets, pillows, pillowcases and sleeping bags with liners are all provided. There is a small wood burning stove in each hut, which can be used to warm the hut before guests turn in. There are candle lanterns to light the hut by night as well as a windup lantern and a backup torch. A jug and wash basin in each hut provides basic washing facilities. There is a separate toilet block with running hot and cold water and showering facilities.
For supper we offer a choice of arrangements for the evening meal: cheffed BBQ, a self-cook BBQ, paella evening or even a curry and quiz night or pizza/chinese delivered to the site. Alternatively we are able to provide a guide for a short evening hike to a local forest ale-house, where delegates can enjoy an evening meal. In the morning we can either provide the food for a self-cook breakfast, which delegates can prepare in the camp kitchen, or delegates can serve themselves from a buffet-style breakfast.
We can organise evening activities such as night navigation exercises or games and the evening atmosphere is always enhanced by the lighting of the fire in the fire circle. Marshmallow roasting or 'damper-making' is always popular. Our licensed Woodland Bar, serving wine, beer, cider and soft drinks can be opened until 11pm and clients can opt for it to be run on either a cash or tab basis. Hot chocolate, mulled wine and hot toddies around the fire can also be organised.
