In our idyllic rustic setting we are proud of the hospitality we provide. Our standards are never compromised and we always do our absolute best to ensure that everyone's needs are met. However, we are an outdoor centre and we do not aspire to being a luxurious "five star" conference facility. Delegates on our programmes involving activities outside need to come suitably dressed for the outdoors and be prepared to get stuck in. In the traditional way of the Forest, we offer a personal friendly service, lots of good-quality catering (being outside always gives people a hearty appetite) and a warm, dry barn to retreat to after activities outside.

Catering arrangements

All guests on our bespoke programmes and day delegates are served morning pastries and afternoon cakes and hot drinks are available throughout the day. We offer a choice of arrangements at lunchtime. We are able to provide a delicious hot or cold buffet, which can be eaten at picnic tables on the south-facing deck in summer or in the barn during colder weather. We are also able to arrange packed lunches for groups with off-site activites such as a cycling expedition or for those travelling during lunchtime. We can organise BBQs or hog roasts, which are popular in the evening. The BBQ can be either be cheffed or self-cook, where we provide all the ingredients and the delegates can demonstrate their Jamie Oliver/Delia Smith skills. We have a large covered area in front of the barn, which allows things to go ahead in the unpredictable British summer. We are also able to offer some different dining options, depending on visitor numbers.

Licensed Woodland Bar

After the activities have finished for the day, we can open our Woodlland Bar and delegates can enjoy wine, beer or soft drinks watching the sun set behind the trees. The bar can be operated either on a tab or cash basis. As dusk falls, we light the camp fire in the centre of the large log circle, setting the scene for delegates to really be able to socialise sitting around the fire in the relaxed atmosphere.

For delegates who stay over either in our Shepherd's Huts or camp overnight in tents or bivouac shelters, we offer a choice of breakfast arrangements. We can provide a buffet style breakfast with hot bacon rolls or delegates can prepare their own breakfast from the food provided in the camp kitchen. For delegates who have made an early start to arrive at our venue we can offer bacon or egg baps on arrival - please do ask for details.

The barn is heated with a slow-burning wood stove. Delegates are always drawn to the fire and many meetings are conducted sitting around the fire, giving the session an cosy and relaxed atmosphere. There is ample room for small discussion groups to meet in separate areas and it can seat up to 80 people theatre-style for a larger meeting. The double doors at the far end open on to the deck. A semi-permanent marquee is erected during peak season to extend the availabe covered space.

In summer the deck, which is a real sun trap, can be used as an outdoor classroom or for entertaining. It is perfect for eating 'al fresco' at the picnic tables and makes an ideal setting for an evening bbq. The licenced Woodland Bar is conveniently situated to one side of the deck.

There are separate ladies and gents cloakrooms, equipped with hot showers and for large groups we can arrange for additional facilities if required. Please note that we need to make special arrangements for delegates in wheelchairs and so need at least 5 working days notice to ensure we have appropriate facilities in place.
